What causes spider and varicose veins?
Although genetics, childbirth, and female gender can assist in the appearance of these veins, the main cause of these veins is related to the incompetent valves in your superficial vein system. Normally, this blood should go directly to the heart with the help of several valves located throughout these veins. When these valves no longer assist in this process, the blood is forced by gravity in the wrong direction. This will cause the abnormal varicose and spider veins to begin to bulge. This often causes the symptoms of aching, swelling, tiredness, heaviness, cramping, burning and itching.
