CVTC – Best vein doctor in New Jersey Explains How to Relieve Leg Pain for Good

Vein disease that presents as varicose and spider veins can lead to leg pain, leg fatigue, cramps, swollen legs and ankles, skin discoloration and even skin ulceration. New Jersey spider and varicose veins doctor, Dr. Imtiaz Ahmad specializes in the safe and effective elimination of varicose and spider veins.

Vein disease is progressive but treatable. Risk factors for vein disease include aging, heredity, female gender, obesity, inactivity, and prolonged periods of standing and/or sitting. The most common complaint Dr. Ahmad hears from his patients is: “My legs hurt.” Conservative treatment is Dr. Ahmad’s first recommendation. Regular exercise to strengthen the leg muscles, maintaining a normal weight, avoidance of prolonged standing and use of compression stockings constitute the initial treatment regimen for vein disease. Both Dr. Ahmad and his highly acclaimed staff at the Comprehensive Vein Care Centerinvite you to take advantage of their expertise in creating an appropriate exercise regimen and weight management program designed specifically for you.

If for any reason conservative measures are inadequate in controlling your symptoms or visible signs of vein disease, Dr. Ahmad is likely to recommend one of several possible minimally invasive treatments. None of these procedures require any general anesthesia. They are all performed on an outpatient basis where patients are allowed to return home the same day. Dr. Ahmad is an eminently skilled vascular surgeon and a vein expert. Because his practice is almost exclusively devoted to vein disease, he and his staff are equipped to offer you the highest standard of professional care in each of the following specialized treatment modalities: sclerotherapy, radiofrequencey ablation, endovenous laser therapy and microphlebectomy. If these technical terms sound a bit intimidating, please be assured that, if and when the time comes for you to undergo any such procedure, all aspects of the technology will be thoroughly explained to you.

The natural course of vein disease

If left untreated, vein disease worsens. As veins lose their elasticity, the one-way valves inside of them tend to malfunction. Normally, these valves allow blood to flow in one direction only – upward from the legs to the heart, but when they begin to leak, blood reverses in direction and pools in the legs. This causes the veins to become enlarged and twisted thus leading to varicose veins.

The increased pressure in the veins unavoidably gets transmitted backward to the tiny blood vessels in the body tissues. Because these tiny vessels are so fragile, they respond to the increased pressure by breaking apart. When they break apart, they form a pattern just under the skin resembling a spider web and are, therefore, called spider veins.

Varicose veins leak fluid into the surrounding tissues which causes swollen legs and ankles. Long-term swelling leads to leg pain, leg fatigue, cramps, discolored skin and, in severe cases, skin ulcers.
